What an exciting week!!! First we received a fabulous shipment from Clothworks, a wonderful array of flowers and calicos that made up so beautifully in the Carpenter's Star. Next, the Whimsicals fabric arrived and it is yummy!!! I have the whole stack of fat quarters, 31 in all, and I can't decide what I want to do first. You must come in and see both of these lines. We cut lots of fat quarters and still have plenty of yardage as well.

I spent several days worried about my friends in Houston, fortunately they didn't get the storm we all feared. I do have a friend that has a quilt shop in Lake Charles and I have been wondering how she is doing.

The other big news around here this week is the Nutmeg Lodge web site. It is open for your perusal. Check us out at www.nutmeglodge.com. Kathy is still working on it and it has some growing to do but I hope you enjoy it.

We have started making plans for 2006 clubs and projects. I think that everyone will find more than enough to keep you challenged.

See you at the shop soon, Barbara

Well here I am back from Retreat. We had the most awesome time. The room was full of creative, exciting women and the projects that everyone got finished was unbelievable. Almost everyone who were doing the project finished. There were a couple who were doing the large version who went home to finish sewing their rows together. Everyone also were working on and finished a variety of other projects. Jean, Patricia and Susan got several large quilts quilted and started other new quilt tops. Gina and Rhonda were churning out things right and left. Antoinette and I got several shop projects put together. You can stop in and see the finished version of Nancy Odem's new fabric. This is the gal that brought us Azalea Trail. The new fabric is wonderful. Antoinette did 22 of the fat quarters up in a Terry Atkinson pattern. It is yummy. I got two nickel quilts finished. I was using that package of 300 five inch squares that we have made up. Using the nickel Quilt book, I made up two great examples from the book. This was such a fun process. Lou Ann did a great job teaching the project and we all had a wonderful time. Put tis on your "to do" list. We got word on Thursday that the Whimsicals fabric is on its way--stay tuned or call the shop to see if it has arrived. See you soon, Barbara

WE had a great time at Sully!! The weather was wonderful. Sunny, no humidity, and a breeze to cool you off just at the right time. The number of attendees was great and we sold a lot of kits. On Friday last week, we received the new panel from Cindy Wecker-Fresch--it is called Circus menagerie. Really great and fun panel with coordinating fabrics. We also received the Welcome panel from Benartex. It is really going to look great in my house and I can't wait for you to see both of them.

We are getting ready for Retreat. The project will be a fun one and everyone is looking forward to a great time. If you aren't signed up, you really do want to put that on your "must do someday" list.

The Back to School Sale was a great success and now we hardly have any books at all. Hopefully we will be getting some new titles this week.

It really is time to start getting those Christmas projects underway. If you need help with ideas we are always happy to encourage your creative juices.

See you soon, Barbara

Don't you just love Labor Day. It is a guarantee that the weather will get tolerable and the atmosphere becomes wonderful. With the gas prices out of sight last week, we stayed home and enjoyed the low humidity from the back porch. I also finished a new project with some Thimbleberries fabric--this project will be available at the Sully Show next weekend. We were busy last week getting several more projects ready for the show. We are expecting the Whimisicals line to arrive any minute. I have been told that it has shipped so we are anxiously awaiting its arrival. Last week we received the flannel book panel with the Quakers story. If you a small grandchild or someone who loves to be read to, this is absolutely adorable--a real "must have" for little hands. To go along with this, the yellow Oh So Soft arrived to make the duck that goes with the book. Come in and check them out. Everyone should have received their newsletter last week. The Back to School Sale is going great--one more week to get 20% off fabric and all books are Buy One, Get One Free. Our class schedule is the best we have ever put together and, judging from the way people are sighing up, everyone agrees. If you haven't checked out the classroom and all the great samples, time is passing by and some of these classes are full or are getting full. Come in this week to get your pick of classes.

Don't forget next Sunday, the Sully Quilt Show at Sully Plantation in Chantilly. If you have never been, you will love this show. Outdoors and wonderful vendors. The weather is predicted to be "picture ."

See you soon. Barbara
