All fabric will be marked down 30% off. All books, patterns and notions will be marked down 25% off. In addition, the back room with be full of 50% off items. So much to look forward to and then, so much to do.

Don't let the rest of the week and the few wee hours left in 2006 pass you by without signing up and joining at least one of our great clubs. The reason to do this right now---you don't want to get the news that the club is full. Join now and give yourself a gift all year long.

I am going away for the New Year celebration and will post the blog on Monday night. Until then, Happy New Year and I wish each a prosperous and happy 2007. Barbara

I don't know about you, but I'm quite glad it was somewhat colder today. 60+ degrees is not my idea of Christmas weather. The bustle is almost over and we are very excited about the new year and all that is is in store for Nutmeg Lodge. I really am hoping that this will be our best year ever. Every Club project that will be coming next year is going to be the best ever. I am sure that once we get started that everyone will be wishing they were doing all of them. And that really is possible. But if for some reason you haven't signed up for a club yet, there is still time. I checked today with Antoinette and there are spaces available in all clubs. We have also added the extra color way to Thimbleberries. If you have not done this club before and would like to know more about it, come in and someone on staff will be able to explain all the great projects lined up for this year. It is going to be a really fun year---the big quilt that will be kitted monthly is a wonderful project with a delightful house in the center. The program is designed with two different color ways. Each color way was wonderful and we have decided to do both. That means that club members can choose their color way or you can do both. More to come on each other club offered. Stay tuned.

I will not post on Sunday as that is Christmas Eve and will wait until next Wednesday to give you another update.

I wish each and everyone and blessed Christmas and hope that all your wishes come true. Barbara

HO, HO, HO!!!! Just a few more days---are you ready? Don't forget, there is still plenty of time to get a Nutmeg Lodge Gift Certificate. And, we also have plenty of items to fill lots of stockings.

The "classroom" is really taking on a new air. There is now a whole wall of fat quarters and it looks quite scrumptious. The batik corner is sporting a whole bevy of fat quarters and the cubby up front is full of homespun fat quarters. In addition we have loads of bundles to choose from as well. All of this work is in preparation for 2007. Beginning in January, all Birthday fat quarters will be picked from existing cut fat quarters. In other words, we will cut not $1.00 fat quarters. When it is your birthday, you can choose 50 fat quarters from a large supply of existing fat quarters and from bundles. All "cut" fat quarters will be $2.50. I hope this is not too confusing. We still look forward to celebrating the birthday of each valued customer. Staff automatically cuts fat quarters from new stock when it comes in and the new cabinets will make it quite simple to keep the stock well up to speed.

Posted on the web site is the complete lineup of Clubs with their projects for 2007 and the price for each. If you still haven't joined a club(s) as yet, don't delay because all of these clubs generally fill up.

Coming in the next few days will be a schedule for upcoming classes, stay tuned. See you soon--Barbara

Tick Tock---sometimes I have trouble listening to my own words, the time really is slipping up on me. I finally got some shopping done today and I guess none too soon. Oh well, there still is a week and half left.

The shop has really been humming with anticipation of the fat quarter wall that is being created in the back. You really won't belief the whole effect. We could become fat quarter central. I think that each of you will find it a fascinating experience to shop from this wall of total beauty.

So many of you have signed up for clubs, and that is a good thing. There are still spots open but don't wait too long before you decide what fun you will give yourself for 2007.

Also, there are still plenty of opportunities for everyone shopping for you to come in and get a gift certificates. Remember there are no penalties for not using your Nutmeg Lodge gift certificate right away. Of course, it is hard to imagine anyone not using it right away.

Enjoy this wonderful weather--see you soon, Barbara

Sunday, December 10, 2006

Just 15 more days, are you ready? If you are like me, there are still a number of names that have not been checked off, and it is possible that your name has not been checked off a few lists as well. Don't forget to tell all of your Santa's that Nutmeg Lodge can satisfy all your dreams. We have gift certificates, and a variety of items in all price ranges. Everyone one staff is always eager to help put together a package to satisfy all budgets.

New fabric is still arriving almost daily. A wonderful, small group that arrived last week has a wine motif and a panel that will make great gift bags. Marcy also thought the panel would make a great table runner or place mats. This is a quick and easy project and you still have plenty of time to sew up one of these "one of a kind" bags for a perfect hostess gift. A simple bottle of wine and your will be the apple of any hostess's eye.

Sign up has begun in earnest for 2007 clubs. Don't be left out of the fun. Come in or call to register and pay for your club membership soon. We are also taking names for those of you who plan to join Saturday Sampler and/or our block of the month, Classic Nutcrackers. Also, if you were unable to make Saturday Sampler, we have our block set and are taking order for the setting pattern. In addition, we have the fabric used for our setting available. Stop by soon and order your pattern and get your fabric. The Summer Joy quilt is also finished and there are complete sets available if you did not join this group this year but would like to have it now that you can see a finished quilt.

So much to do---see you soon--Barbara

It is December 6, Pearl Harbor day and the day that my dear husband's ashes were laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery. After a long and sometimes difficult journey, I am now on a new path. It is good to have all of the services, memorials, etc. done and with this time of year of renewal and promise, what better time to rededicate one's life to a purpose of earnest endeavor. We are in the process of decorating the store for the holiday and look forward to sharing our time and energies with everyone.

New to the shop is a wonderful collection from Red Rooster called Margarita. 29 pieces of lovely pink, blues and greens. I am working on a project that will use all of the pieces and will make a wonderful bed quilt. Also a great new collection from Robyn Pandolph and her final collection from South Seas called Sweet Dreams. You really must see this one, the pinks are so reminiscent of Folk Art Wedding. We had received Country Roads several weeks ago while Robyn was visiting. We were both so disappointed in the quality of the fabric. I sent it back, called the president of South Seas and expressed my displeasure and Robyn reminded me that that is why she left South Seas. I really could not sell this fabric with any enthusiasm and don't think that you missed much.

The girls in the shop are really working hard getting things ready for a "new look" for 2007 at Nutmeg Lodge. We will be starting a few new things and everything for a new year is looking bright and shiny.

With the rising gas prices, I want to remind everyone that we do a great online business and phone business. If you feel you can't make the trip to the shop, then by all means, email from the web site and/or call the shop and we will process your order right away.

This week begins our Christmas celebrations with each of our Clubs. If you belong to one or more, we look forward to seeing you . If you don't belong to a club, now is the time to choose and signup. Happy Quilting--Barbara

Sunday, December 03, 2006

With December finally here it is time to remind everyone about club membership and gift certificates!!!

Clubs will be reforming in January with wonderful new projects that I talked about about few blogs back. There are very few changes in cost of clubs so membership is still very affordable. The only consideration to be made is space availability. We must limit membership due to the space we have in classrooms and the number of chairs that we have. We are now accepting payment for 2007 club memberships. If you are currently in a club, don't let membership pass you buy. If there is a club you would like to add to your schedule, now is the time to get in on the fun. Also, we have a number of "mail order club members". Even though the fun of clubs is so often what happens at meetings, there are those who want to get in on the fun of all the projects---if you are reading this blog from afar, we welcome your membership as well. Antoinette is very proficient at getting the club projects off to out-of-town members right after the meeting is held. If we are offering a kit or other fabric options, she lets you know to get in on the fun. We also keep your punch card on file and utilize the benefits when they come into play.

The same goes for gift certificates---if you are gifted or purchase a gift certificate or gift card from most retail establishments, there are penalties if not used within a certain period of time. Gift certificates at Nutmeg Lodge have no such limitations. Gift certificates are good on everything in the shop, even classes and club membership. Also, gift certificates are another great option for out-of-town shoppers.

I have put together Summer Joy and Saturday Sampler--they are both wonderful quilts and I can't wait to show them off. Come in soon and check them out. See you soon--Barbara

Wednesday, November 29, 2006

One more day of November and then it looks like December and winter will both arrive the same day. Can I say it one more time---the perfect time to be working on a quilt. I have spent today putting the Summer Joy blocks together and am looking forward to having it ready to quilt this weekend. I think that the coldest temperatures might just arrive at the moment I am sitting under it putting the binding on. Sounds so snuggly doesn't it? I was looking around the shop today and see that we still have those Turning Twenty kits in the wonderful flannel group. If you still need Christmas ideas, these kits are perfect for a teenager, a new dorm quilt or anyone on your list that needs a comfy throw. Turning Twenty goes together so fast that this project will get finished in no time. Remember that flannel quilts really don't need any batting and are perfect for tying. Or, get two sets and sew the blocks together rag-quilt style and you are done!!!!
We started a new book program a couple of weeks ago and I have failed to mention this to you---a new program from Martingale/That Patchwork Place called SUPER STITCHER AWARD PROGRAM. Here is how it works:
  • Pick up an Award Card
  • Every purchase of a Martingale book, get your card punched
  • Buy Nine (9) books
  • Mail your card to Martingale and get a book FREE--your choice

Doesn't that sound wonderful!!! Very easy and you can choose any book that Martingale publishes absolutely free after you buy nine books.

See you soon---Barbara

I do hope that you had a most "thankful" Thanksgiving. I spent a very enjoyable time with my children and grandchildren and I am very thankful for each of them. I also spent the days appliqueing one of the blocks for next year's Willing Hands club project. It is that time of year to begin planning for a new year. We are very excited about each Club project for 2007.

Willing Hands--will be doing unpublished patterns from Robyn. The first project for the year was something that Robyn designed while visiting me several weeks ago. This is a going to make a lovely quilt so give this some thought.
Primitive Club--the project for the upcoming year will be a "sampler" type quilt. The patterns will come from a book that we will be working from all year. In addition to each element of the quilt, each chapter will have a smaller project such as wool work, stitchery, table runner, quilts, etc. The year's work will be entirely different than what we have done in the past in this club and should be loads of fun.
Crazy Club--we are going back to our roots with this fun club. We will be featuring the designs of a new designer from Canada. The first project of the year will be a fun quilt with some learning technique involved and a great project. We will feature six different patterns for the year and explore other fun things to do and learn.
Thimbleberries--another new twist from Lynette Jensen we will again be doing a block each month for a large quilt and also have the opportunity to make smaller project. Each of the above clubs offer the maker the opportunity to have many Christmas gifts ready by the end of the year.
Baltimore Album Club--combining Elly's new fabric line and the pattern from Aunt Sallie's quilt, I plan to work each month on an album quilt and finish it by the end of the year. Join me in this club and you too can have a finished album quilt by 2008.

We have new fabric still to arrive in 2006 so don't be a stranger--also don't forget to tell your loved ones about the great gift certificates at Nutmeg Lodge. Barbara

Wednesday, November 22, 2006

I have spent the afternoon baking bread and pies---yummmmmm!!! I hope that each of you have a wonderful day tomorrow.

So many of you have been in the last few days to get your Black Friday Fat Quarters---enjoy!!!! Just a reminder, come in on Friday and everything in the store will be marked down 25%. We have fabric and books in the back marked down 50%. This is a great opportunity to get backings and batting for Christmas projects and there really is time to start and finish many projects. All those many fat quarter projects is very doable between now and Christmas. There are several of the long arm girls that have spaces available for quilting. Check with us to find how who has spaces.

Again, have a great day tomorrow--enjoy shopping on Friday. In the next few weeks I will be giving you the rundown on Clubs and Class projects for 2007. We are very excited about our lineup for next year and think that you will be excited as well. Barbara

Sunday, November 19, 2006

I'M BACK!!!! I gave myself the past week to try and regain my strength physically and spiritually. Life goes on and so does daily business and I think I am up to the task. A huge "thank you" to the many who have sent cards, called and/or emailed. Knowing that I have so many friends to keep my going does exactly that---keeps me going.

With Thanksgiving this week, Judy suggested that she and Marcy would be up to the task to celebrate with BLACK FRIDAY. Soooooo, come in Tuesday and/or Wednesday and pickup a BLACK FRIDAY BONUS CARD. Here is how it works----

On Tuesday or Wednesday, for every $25.00 you spend you will get a BLACK FRIDAY BONUS CARD.

Bring the card in on BLACK FRIDAY and get a Fat Quarter for each Bonus Card.

The best part of BLACK FRIDAY, EVERYTHING IN THE STORE WILL BE MARKED DOWN 25%. There will also be some 50% off fabric in the back. Because of the influx of traffic we are anticipating--no fat quarters will be cut on Friday and your Black Friday Bonus Card will only by good on Friday.

There have been several new arrivals to the shop that are quite wonderful and exciting. April Cornell's Sonnet, new Gentle Flowers and some gingham blenders from South Seas, plus a few of the new Wedding fabric and blue indigo batiks. We are expecting more of the blue indigo batiks and are planning a great quilt with this collection.

Have a great Thanksgiving---enjoy your family and friends---and then come shopping at Nutmeg Lodge. There is still plenty of time to get projects started and finished from Christmas. Barbara

I'm sure some of you have noticed a definite lapse in updates to the blog. As I mentioned back in August, my husband is facing the end of his beautiful life and I have been by his side. The last two weeks have brought us closer to the end and I rarely leave the hospital. Needless to say, I have had little time to post the blog or even to visit Nutmeg Lodge.

I wanted to take a moment in a fast trip home this morning to say hello to all and give you this little update. I will not post to the blog again until my life has resumed some normalcy. I appreciate so much all of the well wishes I have received regarding Nelson and me. Your thoughts and prayers have been felt full measure.

There are great things going on at Nutmeg Lodge. New fabric and new panels have delighted all on staff and all of the girls have been busy with samples of the new arrivals.

Stop by or call for more information. Again, I look forward to communicating to you in the near future....until my fondest wish to each of you for VERY HAPPY QUILTING!!! Barbara

Time marches on and we seem to be well into Fall. It won't be long until we turn the clocks back and then we really will need to settle in for a "long Winters nap". I have said this enough?----what a great time to snuggle under a quilt project in progress. This some of the loveliest fabric I have ever seen having just arrived---I find myself wanting to get started. I really want to take the Aunt Sallie pattern and use Elly's new fabric to create the whole thing. These blocks are not so difficult that finally a true album quilt could be in the near future. This really would be a delightful winter project.

Also, the new Moda line is so gorgeous!!!! Linda and Jan really do have such a great eye for a color palette. The gals at the shop have taken the new pattern from Terry Atkinson pattern and made it up using this new line from Moda. Wonderful Fall colors in a table runner that also has directions for placemats. A wonderful gift item and we all know that Terry's patterns are so simple and the use of fabric in this project is fabulous.

Take care, stay warm--see you!!!! Barbara

Sunday, October 22, 2006

To all you Baltimore Album fans and Elly fans in particular, the front of the shop is an album delight. With the entire line from Elly's new fabric to the new book, then the Aunt Sallie's quilt pattern and the wonderful bundles of the line and Mimi Detrick's new book, the whole scene is delectable. Come in and check out the whole ambiance soon. Plus all of the new Moda fabric is also right up front and center.

To recap the Kaufman line--yardage of everything is $9.00 per yard and wide fabric is $13.00. Elly's book Baltimore Elegance is $29.95. Bundles of 49 pieces is $122.50. Plus the yardage with writing, patchwork and borders is cut in 1/8 yards or more. The extra wide fabric is two different patterns in three color ways. Mimi Detrick's book is also in the 20something range and the Aunt Sallie Quilt pattern is $25.00. This pattern is truly an original and documented to have been made in Shepherdstown, Virginia in 1856. A lovely collection of elegant but simple album-style papercuts and simple floral wreaths plus a basket. This is absolutely a collector's item for the true album lover.

Many great things going on at Nutmeg Lodge coming up. The great class with Cathy Grey called Mr. Snow--a darling 14inch snowman perfect for the winter decorator and a great gift. Also on the calendar a new project from LouAnn called 1-stich quilting. Call about the wonderful class that is filling quickly.

Looking forward to seeing you soon--Barbara

Wednesday, October 18, 2006

Well everyone needs to come shopping soon because we are busting at the seams with fabric. Not only do we have 70 bolts of Elly's fabric that has just made its way onto the shelves, but the UPS man arrives with a huge Moda shipment and another collection from Kaufman.

From Moda we got some wonderful batiks that will look great on our batik shelf and are in colors perfect for fall/winter projects. Also the new Brannock/Patak collection called Four Seasons. These pieces are just outstanding and you don't want to let this collection pass you by. Also 110 wide goods for backings from the Chocolat group--this piece is absolutely wonderful and if you are planning to finish something soon and will need a dynamite backing this is for you!!!!

From Kaufman some new orientals with gold, each piece is more wonderful than the next. All of the pieces from this oriental group are worthy for addition to your stash.

Also, from Kaufman the cutes black/white/red/and yellow chicken fabric you ever laid eyes on. This will be a "must have" for all of you black and white collectors and will make a wonderful kitchen quilt for your own kitchen or a friend. Don't miss out on this delightful piece!!!!

Just as I had predicted---Elly's fabric and book arrived almost simultaneously. If you had a book on order, come in and pick up soon. This is the best book she has ever done and the best part---Nutmeg Lodge is listed in the back as a source for Elly's books and fabrics. How great is that? She had told me in the Spring that she had asked C&T to add Nutmeg Lodge to the source page and I am so flattered so be among those few shops around the country that was mentioned.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon--Barbara

Monday, October 16, 2006

A big apology to anyone who checked the blog last night and didn't see a new update. My lap top decided not to work with the modem and I was too tired to come into town and use the office computer. SORRY!!! I crossed my mind that some might things were worse with Nelson. To update you on his condition--- time marches on at the hospital and he slowly fades away. I spend most of my days with him and we both appreciate the visits, cards, calls and emails inquiring about the two of us and wishing us well. All of your words are a comfort to both of us.

Now to the business of Nutmeg Lodge. ELLY'S FABRIC IS HERE AND IS TOTALLY WONDERFUL!!!!! What a great surprise on Friday when box, after box began to come off the UPS truck. A what a great amount of work for all the staff to start sorting and cutting. We are doing fat quarter bundles of 48 pieces (there are 70 all together). The price of the the bundle is $120.00. As with Elly's last collection, there are patchwork and border pieces that are not suitable for fat quarters. There is also a wonderful piece with writing that is "to die for", plus wide yardage in four color ways. All of these pieces we will cut into yardage of any amount from !/8 yard upward. The wide pieces will also make wonderful background squares. The whole collection is the best yet. All regular yardage is priced at $10.00 per yard and the wide yardage is $15.00. As with the past collections, these pieces won't last long. Call, email or come in to place your orders early!!!!

In addition to that exciting news===don't forget that selected Christmas fabric and all Christmas panels are 25% off. Also, beginning on Tuesday selected Fall and Halloween fabric will also be 25% off. There are only a couple of Halloween panels and those are 25% off as well.

Whew!!!! I am tried from all of this good news!!! Come and see us soon---Barbara

They say that cooler weather is going to come and stay and, we all know what that means......time to kick up the quilting. It is up front in the cabinet along with Chistmas panels also marked 25% off. This is not only another chance to get going on Christmas projects, but if you have already bought all you want, you can still get those backings for all your Christmas projects.

Cathy and Antoinette got the Splish Splash project finished and it is so cute. Don't miss out on this really great little tin of fun.

We have done another version of a previous pattern in the pink and brown fabric from Buggy Barn---Lynn Fitzharris has quilted this great project. You are in for quite a treat when you see this. We used the fat quarter bundle of the line and it made the quilt in total except for a small amount for inner border. Wednesday, September 27, 2006

Well we are certainly marching into October in a fine fashion. Things are humming at Nutmeg Lodge and we are excited about our upcoming annual event FALL FLING. Yes, it is time for the final quarter sale which we have named Fall Fling. All Fall and Christmas fabric will be marked down 25%. This wonderful event will start on Tuesday and run through the week. That means that you can shop early and shop often.

The event that I curated for the Shepherdstown Historic Society was very successful and a lot of fun. Even though I am really pressed for time on extra projects, it was a very lovely event and the enthusiasm to the talk I gave tonight to the membership was very well received. Their questions and comments really were enlightening. The quilt that the Society owns and is displayed in the museum, Aunt Sallie's Quilt. Is a wonderful example of an album quilt which was made in 1856. The pattern for this quilt is available at Nutmeg Lodge. Come in and pick up your copy soon. (FYI: these patterns will not be included in the sale next week)

Another reminder, the panels are still Buy One, Get One so hurry in and pick up those great gift items before they are gone on Saturday.

Thank you to all who came to the Entler Hotel in Shepherdstown. What a lovely room to exhibit quilts. Thanks also to the 17 quilters who allowed me to share their exquisite work with the members of the Historic Shepherdstown Society and those who visited the museum today. The quilts looked so lovely on display in the lovely gallery area of the hotel and the comments from all who viewed them was so complimentary to each quilt artist on display. All of this was due to the efforts of Sarah Drennan--a big thank you to her as well for the opportunity to share all of this wonderful work. I hope that this will become an annual event and I can share work from more of you in the future.

The long awaited pink and brown fabric line from Buggy Barn has arrived. It is such a lovely line of fabric, just waiting for the creative minds to turn it into a work of art. This is one of those rare collections that will look outstanding using part or all of the line and nothing needs to be added. Come in and check it out before it is too late.

Fall is officially here and we have fall fabric but not fall panels left. There is still plenty of time to create a wonderful fall quilt to cuddle under or as a table topper ready for a lovely display of mums. There are some Christmas panels left but the number has dwindled significantly with the Buy One, Get One offer we have been running. Just a reminder that this offer is good until the end of the month. Also, the Buy One Get One book offer from Martingale is also good until the end of the month as well. A great time to get a jump on Christmas giving, and don't forget your birthday fat quarters if September was your birthday month--time is ticking.

See you all soon, Barbara

Wednesday, September 20, 2006

It looks like we are getting our first taste of Fall and none too soon, it will be here it just a few days.

  • four bolts of Chocolat from Moda, these go with the stack of charm squares--another great and easy project for a wonderful gift.
  • new books and patterns from Martingale

Due to arrive tomorrow, the long awaited pink and brown from Buggy Barn. Apparently our order got a little side tracked but on Tuesday it got back on track and was going out that very day. Our rep assured us it should be in the UPS delivery on Thursday. Check with staff after noon to make sure.

Once again, due any day the long awaited book and fabric from our dear Elly. Also, stay tuned for this one.

Saturday will be the Autumn Social at the Entler Hotel in Shepherdstown. Hours are 6:00-9:00. This wonderful event features a quilt exhibit by Nutmeg Lodge. Price is $35.00 per person. If you are unable to make that event come on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 for a private reception to view the quilts, visit with friends from Nutmeg Lodge. Cost for this event is free. The featured quilt which is owned by the Shepherdstown Historic Society is an album quilt made in 1856 and called Aunt Sallie's Quilt. This is a wonderful album quilt from the era and the best part--patterns will be available for $25.00. If you cannot make either event, patterns will be available at the shop. Hope to see you all on Sat. and/or Sun. Barbara

Home from Retreat and what fun everyone had. This has become such an easy event that it takes no time for everyone to settle in and enjoy themselves while sewing away. 22 participants, a teacher, Antoinette and myself busily working away and the results that were created were wonderful. Everyone doing the project were well on their way to completion when leaving this afternoon, and a few===LuAnn Elliott and Patsy Smith's were finished. By now there are probably a couple of more ready for the quilter. Carol Catron took pictures and I will have them on the web site in a couple of days. The whole event was great!!

One more week and it will be Fall and we have 2007 calendars in stock. Sorry, but it really is time to get things organized for next year.
Also new to the shop, a darling stack of charm squares from Thimbleberries and these come with a pattern. Priced under $15.00 for squares and pattern, this is really a wonderful project or great gift for a sewing sister.

Again, new fabric from Buggy Barn, Robyn and Elly as well as Elly's new book will be arriving any day now, stay tuned.

Also, the class schedule will be on line or at the shop this week. Check with us on this.

Hope you all had a great weekend, stop by and see us at the Lodge or on the web. Barbara

Things are humming along and the weather really is showing signs of Fall. I always love this time of year and luxuriate in the feeling of cooler days, almost cold nights and the sun dipping ever earlier into the hills. Call me silly but Fall has always been my favorite. When we lived in Texas this was the single most difficult thing for me to overcome. No Fall Color!!! Can you believe somewhere that trees do not change color and loose their leaves. Well, it happens in semi-tropic climates and I missed it like crazy.

The only thing better than Fall is making Fall and Winter quilts and we have wonderful fabrics for both of these seasons. Also, the book and panel sale is still in full swing.

Fall retreat will be this weekend and 24 exicited people are packing to make the trek to Shepherd's Spring for another fun-filled weekend. If you have never experienced a weekend like this, you might want to put this on your list for "must dos" in the future. Check with me or at the shop about the upcoming retreats and what it costs and how to get enrolled.

Another reminder that we still have Elly's new book and fabric to arrive at any moment, along with a ton of other new things, STAY TUNED.

See you all soon--Barbara

Tired but satisfied==it was a very nice day at Sully Plantation today. There were tons of people and we met old friends and made many new ones. The weather was nice and the day went by pleasantly. Antoinette and I left Martinsburg at 5:30 this morning and sat up the show with enough time to get a cup of coffee and stroll the grounds looking at the ware of other vendors. There were a number of dealers in old quilts and we say some real beauties. From what I could see from our booth after the gates opened it looked like a lot of people were buying those old quilts. I am sure they will enjoy them.

We have had several new arrivals. The first is the Kansas Troubles line from Moda, Bound to the Prairie. Lynn Hosford has a wonderful way the those old colors. I really want to make something from this group but haven't come up with an idea yet.

We also have received the Quilt Sampler edition with the top shops. This is always a "must have" magazine. The patterns each shop has provided this time are quite wonderful.

The Buy One, Get One event is still going on so don't be left behind if you haven't come in yet.

Too tired to go on, I will post more on Wednesday. See you, Barbara

September has brought cooler temperatures and a lot of shoppers to the store. New friends and old friends alike have made their way in this week to check out the book sale and the panel bargains. Don't forget the Buy One Get One Free on selected titles from That Patchwork Place and all panels storewide. Pick up a couple of titles that you have been wanting to add to your library and then check out all the great panels we have. With the ability to get twice as much for $7.00 (the average price of a panel) you can get started on Christmas gifts and baby gifts to have ready for a bundle of joy for a friend or associate.

I apologize for the delay in the class schedule, my days are so long right now and we are also trying to get ready for the upcoming show at Sully. Don't forget, Sunday is the wonderful show at Sully Plantation in Chantilly. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wonderful vendors, wonderful food, quilt appraisals, quilts on display in the old plantation house. It is always such a wonderful day and the weather is supposed to be fabulous. We will be in our usual spot so, please stop by and say hi.

Ann Kessel will be teaching the Beginning Patchwork class beginning next Saturday, September 16, 9:00-12:00. This is a wonderful class and must-do for beginners. If you have not had this class or know someone who might be interested we have a couple of openings. Call the shop to sign up.

Have a great week, see you soon---Barbara

HAPPY LABOR DAY!!!! I hope that everyone enjoys a day free from work and have a day filled with some kind of labor of love. A family gathering, a day in the garden or a day quilting. Enjoy!!!!

We will celebrate back to school, the beginning of cooler days, the shortening of days by having our second annual Buy One, Get One Free on selected books from C&T, plus we are also doing Buy One, Get One Free on panels. To really jump start gifts and easy redecorating, all panels will be on sale. Come in and stock up on these wonderful bargains.

Don't forget to check in frequently because we have a lot of great fabric collections coming throughout the month.

Also, the newsletter and class lineup is in the works. I apologize for the delay but with everything going on at home, or more importently, at the hospital, I have been slow getting things rolling. We do have a great line up of classes from Ann and Gina. Also, we will be having a different format for the newsletter. Because of the doing the blog twice a week, there really is no need for the Notes from the Lodge. The class page will be revamped somewhat to allow a format that we can print off for you and have copies available at the checkout counter. Stay tuned for all of this to come in the next few days.

Enjoy your holiday!!!! Barbara

I just have tons of things to tell you, I can't believe how many things we have to look forward to in September!!!1

First, beginning Tuesday, September 5 we will beginning our Second Annul Buy One Get One Free book event. We did this last year and it was so successful we wanted to do it again. A great opportunity to get some of those titles you have been wishing for. Also a great idea for early Christmas shopping for your secret quilting pal or a favorite quilting friend.

We have a lot of fabric collections coming in September. We are going to be over-flowing with fabric. As mentioned before, Elly's entire line is arriving. Then the entire line of brown and pink from Buggy Barn. In addition to those, we have a number of things from Moda including the new 3 Sisters and April Cornell lines coming.

Now for the next big news. I have been asked to curate a quilt show for the Shepherdstown Historic Society. This is going to be a lovely event and one that I think everyone will enjoy. The quilts will be available to view on Saturday, September 23 during the fall event hosted by the Society at the Entler Hotel. Admission is $35.00 and includes food/wine/beer. Call the shop for more information and contact for reservations. Then, on Sunday, September 24 I will be hosting a private viewing for Nutmeg Lodge. If you are unable to attend the whole event on Saturday, you will have an opportunity to see the quilts. I will have more information with times, etc. in my next blog.

Have a great weekend and I will wish you Happy Labor Day on Sunday. Barbara

Sunday, August 27, 2006

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH Rain. Even though it was muggy today, it really was nice to hear RAIN!!!! Of course, the next thing will be MOW, but Fall is in sight and the rain was very welcomed.

With September almost upon us, we have so much to look forward to. The Sully Quilt Show is a wonderful one-day event in Chantilly the Sunday after Labor Day weekend. A fabulous show you don't want to miss. Come by and pick up info if you have never been. Next will be retreat and that is just the best fun. As mentioned previously, I think we still have an opening or perhaps two. If you would like to join this fun filled weekend and delightful attendees, call the shop and check with Antoinette.

The best things to look forward to, however, is all the great fabric we have coming in September. As I mentioned last blog, Elly's fabric will be shipping the first of September as well as her book. A most outstanding line from Buggy Barn in wonderful pink and brown, and we have the entire line coming of both these collections. Also, there are several Moda groups to arrive as well as one of Robyn's last lines from South Seas.

I will give you a full report when each arrives. If you want bundles of these collections in their entirety, let Antoinette know and we will alert you when they will ship and we bill.

Have a great week and I will post more on Wednesday...Barbara

Life is full of twists and turns, ups and downs, good days and not so good days. As many of you may know, my dear husband has battled a long and impressive time with neuropathy, multiple lung diseases and cancer. We have been told that once again twists and turns are upon us. He has been diagnosed with a lesion in his brain which is cancer and the prognosis is terminal. I tell you this because so many ask and offer their thoughts to me and for him constantly. I cannot begin to express how much that means to both of us. I and our children and grandchildren are preparing for the final moments we have together. I will be intermittently available at shop for a time. If you need my personal attention, please email or call to arrange a time we can both be there at the same time. Again, I want to send my deep appreciation for everyone's concern and good wishes.

Now for the good stuff!!! The charm square bundles of April Cornell's new line are in. 45 wonderful pieces. These little bundles of joy can make a fantastic quilt. Two packages and you have a stunning bed topper. I am not sure when the bolts will arrive, but hopefully they are right behind.

Elly's new line of fabric will be coming to us the first of September. We will be doing fat quarter bundles like we did for the last line. I am sorry I can't give you an exact price but you can call and put your name on a list to be notified and/or be included in the "first cut". When I saw this line at Market it is stunning. I was fortunate to talk with Elly at the Kaufman booth and she explained the rational behind several pieces and I told her I thought this was her best ever. You really don't want to miss out on this I think these bolts will go fast. Baltimore Elegance, her new book will be arriving about the same time as the fabric line. So much to look forward to.

We are in that time frame that things are arriving frequently. Stop by and see all the wonderful new things. I will give you more updates on Sunday and, hopefully, see you at the shop. Barbara

Sunday, August 20, 2006

All the fall fabric is out!!!! The top of the fabric shelves next to the cutting table is full of beautiful fall fabrics--all the rich tones of autumn--gold, rust, brown, orange, and green. This is probably my most favorite season and my favorite palette of colors. We have a fall panel and a darling Halloween panel--both a great addition to your fall decorating. The Halloween panel is from Sandy Gervais called Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet. The colors are gorgeous orange and black and the design is totally engaging. We also have charm packs from this line. The whole lineup of fall fabrics is fabulous and I am sure you are going to love them.

If you are a member of Primitive Club you don't want to miss this week's meeting. We will be unveiling a new project and I am totally in love with this one. Thankfully I made the sample myself and am so glad that this delightful project will be coming home with me with we no longer need it at the shop.

All of our clubs are in beginning new projects and each group has wonderful quilts to look forward to. If you belong to any clubs, don't miss out on the fun things that are going on.

Did I mention that we have two openings in the Fall Retreat? If you are interested we can accommodate you. The sample for the project is hanging in the classroom. Gina Zdziera is teaching the project and she has done a beautiful job of executing this wonderful pattern from Terry Atkinson. It is from Terry's book Monterey Medallion and is a wonderful quilt that everyone who makes it will love forever.

We have gotten notice that Baltimore Elegance will be shipped the first of September. If you have not placed your advance order, now is the time to do so--remember a $5.00 coupon toward the purchase is available by using the Code 1234.

See you at the shop--Barbara

Lazy, Hazy Days of Summer--does that sound familiar? This is the time of the season that you really need to enjoy because it is only a matter of weeks before it will be gone and we will settle into the changes that will bring cold and (ugh) snow. It really is the best time to get your magazines, books, patterns, etc. out and make a plan for all those projects that you really must get finished before the end of October. And, if you are planning on sending them to a long arm quilter, make your reservation so that you know exactly when they need to be ready.

We will be putting the Fall fabric out over the next few days. I think that it has all finally arrived and ready for its debut. We have a couple of really great panels as well as some wonderful prints that will make up into a great pieced throw or table runner.

Table runner patterns really are a great bang for your buck. They make up easy, make a great statement for changing out your decor and make a wonderful gift to boot. So often a cut of fabric off the bolt will yield enough fabric for two projects. If you don't have a favorite table runner pattern, ask us we have several options for you to try.

I am just finishing up the last sample from the Thimbleberries book, Christmas Countdown. These really are wonderful projects. We have the books as well as all the fabric, plus all of the projects in the book look great in other fabrics as well.

Looking forward to seeing you soon. Barbara

Sunday, August 13, 2006

What a nice treat with cooler temperatures and, have you noticed--the days are getting shorter. That can only mean one thing, great quilting weather is really on its way. I have certainly noticed more people planning Christmas and winter projects. This is the perfect time to get a couple of tops finished and ready for the hoop if you are a hand quilter. Nothing is more satisfying than sitting beneath a quilt project and stitching away the winter days.

We are beginning to get things lined up for Fall classes. I will be giving you more updates in upcoming blogs as to when the newsletter and class lineup will be posted on the web site.

For all of you Baltimore enthusiasts--there have been two changes to the Main Conference lineup for Applique Academy. If you are planning to go and would like to include your application in the overnight letter from Nutmeg Lodge, you will need to get your application to me by Thursday. I will be mailing it on Friday. If you have any questions about the classes and would like to discuss it with me, come in, give me a call or email and I will tell you what I know.

My daughter and granddaughter have been visiting this weekend and I have not been to busy with stitching--hope you had a great weekend. See you soon--Barbara

You are in for such a treat when you come to visit the shop. Antoinette and Kelly have totally rearranged the notions corner!!!! I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it looks. Everything is so organized and almost all of the notions are on pegs on the wall. Now you can actually walk into the corner and reach everything. But the past part!!!---you can see everything that we have in the way of notions. All of us have had a moment when we spied something that we had no idea we had. I think that Nutmeg Lodge's notions department is unequaled by any shop in its size group. Having a great variety of notions was one of the things that led me to open the store in the first place. I am so pleased with the way it looks and the ease you will have in shopping from that area.

The other news is the arrival of our perle cotton cabinet. I had been told it would not be here until September so it was sort of like Christmas when it arrived today. Everyone is thrilled with the beauty of this wonderful thread. It is fabulous for punch needled. The size of the thread means you don't have to separate embroidery floss and being on a roll, you can continuously punch without having to rethread a new piece of floss. The other wonderful benefit to this product--it does outstanding embroidery. All of you Baltimore appliquer's will love this thread for that embellishment work on album blocks. The variegated varieties will be wonderful for those feather stitches Elly loves to do around leaves. Check this new product out soon.

We have a number of new blenders on the shelves that have expanded our color choices. We will be putting the fall fabric out within the next few weeks. I will give you more information on that soonl

Also, we have a "gently" used Gem Gold for sale for $150.00. An excellent buy for someone in the need of a nice little machine for classes or retreats. This little gem weighs only 12 pounds. Come in and take a look.

See you all soon, Barbara

Sunday, August 06, 2006

We are finally back in order all around the shop. It always makes me feel so good when we have gone through and rearranged everything. One of the last things to get a good reorganization is the punch needle cabinet. Finally, the patterns are all in order and easy to choose from. A new inventory of needles and hoops are on their way so if you have not yet started this fun artform, come in or call to reserve your needle and hoop. These little projects are not only fun but make the most wonderful gifts. If you have not yet learned the ins and outs of punchneedle, Antoinette or I can give you a quick lesson and start you on your way.

Also, the wool felting is equally as fun and easy to do. Same thing, fast, fun and a great gift. Again, Antoinette or I can give you a lesson in this fun activity as well.

Some new fabrics are here from Moda, as well as new books from Martingale. We have a new supply of wide backing fabric due to arrive this week. We are doing our part to get ready for all your projects that are becoming finished and ready for the quilters. Don't forget also that we have information for the local long arm quilters. If you are in need of information, stop by and pick up a brochure.

Still to come in the quilt show department:
Sully, September 10 at Sully Plantation in Chantilly.
Flying Geese Quilt Show in Bel Air, Md, Oct. 20 and 21.
Christmas in the Mountains, November 3, 4, and 5. We have posters at the shop with complete information and pictures of projects to be taught in classes at this wonderful event at Tamarak.

Nutmeg Lodge will have a booth at all of these events. Let me know if you need more information on any of these events.

See you soon, Barbara

Wednesday, August 02, 2006

The only thing harder than getting ready for a big quilt show is putting it away when the show is over. That is what Cathy and I have spent the last two days doing. It has been a great way of moving things around and we have so many new things to put up. We sold out of several kits at the show but have one back in stock already and will get the others done up soon.

One of the things that we now have up is the entire line of "yard longs". These great projects from Joined at the Hip are wonderful accents for your home and a wonderful gift for a friend.

In addition to the new items from the show we now have our display of wool felting items. We have a huge stock of wool roving, needles, pads and a wonderful felted wool to go with the patterns for this new and fun art. Come in any morning and I will do a demo to show you how fun and easy this is. This is really a great gift idea and one that takes a few simple supplies and tools to get into.

I do hope everyone is fairing well with the heat. The best thing to do is work on projects because no one can garden right now. If you need things and want to make your trip easier, call ahead and we can have your ordered pulled and ready to go when you arrive.

See you soon, Barbara

Monday, July 31, 2006

We're back and it was really fun!!!! Robyn and I had the best time. It was a great show, a lot of people and many new customers. It was fun to watch the reaction of people to being introduced to "Robyn Pandolph". There were a few that had a hard time believing that "THE" Robyn Pandolph was actually sitting in a booth signing labels. Missy Milano was delighted to have her there and they are planning on Robyn teaching at Quilt Odyssey next year. Stay tuned for more information on that.

Even though we had a lot of sales we did come back with merchandise, which I was counting on. And that means that we have a ton of new things in the shop. If you were not at the show then you are in for a treat with all the new samples and kits we have for some really great projects. And, like most everything we do, made from fat quarters and really simple to make. Great Christmas gifts and, I have been saying for some time, now is the time to get started people.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi!!! For those of you who shopped in the booth you know that you got a gift certificate to spend at the shop. Don't hesitate to take advantage of your little blue card. Even though it doesn't expire, some of the great kits that we have won't last forever.

Come in and see us soon. Barbara

PS. With all this heat, after you visit us, stay inside where it is cool and get started on all those fall and winter projects.

Wednesday, July 26, 2006

The blog is early this Wednesday because Robyn and I are off the Hershey in just a little while to set up for Quilt Odyssey. The van is loaded and we are ready to roll. She arrived yesterday and it has been so great to get a chance to catch up on everything. The girls from the shop came for dinner last night and we had a great time sitting around the dining room table sharing stories. Don't even ask what all we talked about, we covered a range of topics but very little about quilting--imagine that!!!

Don't forget, if you are coming the Hershey stop by the booth, we will have surprises for those of you who normally come to the shop and everyone else as well.

Also, if you are thinking about preordering Ellie's new book, which is fabulous--call the shop to place your order. Remember the Code is 1234 for $5.00 off the purchase price of $29.95. The phone number is 304-262-6633.

I will be back late on Sunday so I might not post the blog until Monday but I will have a lot to tell you so check in for that one. See you at the Show!!! Barbara

Sunday, July 23, 2006

The most prepared for week has arrived and we are totally prepared!! Everyone has worked so hard to get kits cut, folded, packaged, etc. Judy, Cathy and Kelly have toiled tirelessly to see that everything is assembled, printed and laminated. Gina came back from vacation and threw herself into copying and printing. I can't say enough thank you's and kudos for all, they really have made this a lot easier. If I have failed to mention what I refer to, why it is Quilt Odyssey of course. The show starts on Thursday. Tomorrow I will check Nelson into Respite Care, On Tuesday I will pick up Robyn and load the van and then on Wednesday morning we will head for Hershey, PA and set up the booth. I am so excited about the number of new projects that we will have for you to see. Kits galore and a few surprises. If you are a Robyn Pandolph fan, (and who isn't?) stop by and say hello. If you are a Nutmeg Lodge fan, (and who isn't) stop by and say hello. I have a special something for all of you who shop in the booth. Of course, in addition to being excited about my first booth at this wonderful show, I am doubly excited about spending time with my wonderful friend. Robyn and I have done so many booths together over the years and around the country. It will, however, be the first time that she will be going with me to do a show for my business, in the past I was accompanying her for her business. She is not only coming to help me in the booth but to celebrate her birthday. It has been several years that I have been with her to celebrate and I am even more pleased. Her wonderful husband, John gave the trip to her for her present from him. Thank you John!!!

Come see us in Hershey at the Hershey Convention Center. Or stop by the shop and enjoy all the great Christmas fabric. See you soon, Barbara

Wednesday, July 19, 2006

I just realized that this is the 100th posting on the blog. Since I do this twice a week, I guess this blog is about one year old. I also hope that each of you have enjoyed reading these little updates twice a week. I have found that it has been a great way to let everyone know what is going on and keeping all of you up-to-date on new arrivals and special deals. Thanks for your interest!!!

Work is at a fevered pitch getting everything ready for next week. Of course, as usual, new arrivals have precipitated extra work in the way of getting new kits ready and a sample to go along with them. The girls at the shop have been wonderful getting everything cut, folded and packaged in a most beautiful manner. If you can't make the show, we should have extra stock to put on the shelves when we get back. We really do have some great kits that are not only beautiful but quick and easy and will make great gifts.

We have had some new Christmas fabric arrive this week. For some reason this year it seems to have arrived later than usual but I do believe that it is all finally here. Please remember that this doesn't last forever and it you have projects in mind, don't put off purchasing too long. This has begun to really dwindle by September.

Come in and enjoy the cool and friendly atmosphere and check out the new arrivals. See you then, Barbara

Sunday, July 16, 2006

Is it hot enough for everyone? Well it is July and to think, we still have August. AHHH, what a perfect time to get all the lovely Christmas fabric for all the gift projects and crank up the AC and get a jump start on the holiday season. We really do have a great selection and your Christmas dollars are good on each and every one plus the Christmas fat quarters.

Only once week left to get things finished up for the booth at Quilt Odyssey. I know that a lot of you are planning on making the trip and you will be delighted when you visit Nutmeg Lodge's booth. We have so many new projects with kits available. And we have a lot of them, so many in fact that I'm not sure how I am going to get it all the the booth. Well, you know how I love my nooks and crannies, it should be a shoppers feast with so much going on in one booth. If you are still wanting to go and have not made plans, there is a bus going from this area on Friday, July 28. We have information in the shop. Or, if you would like to find someone to ride/drive with, let us know and we will try and hook you up.

We completely sold out of batting during the Anniversary Sale, but a new shipment has arrived so if you need batting, stop by and load up.

See you soon, Barbara

Wednesday, July 12, 2006

Merry Christmas!! That is the phrase we used today. As promised, all of the Christmas fabric is out and apparently there were a lot of you itching to get started on Christmas projects. A word of caution, this fabric won't last long so don't delay in coming in and seeing all the beautiful stuff and get ready to start your Christmas projects. I have been busy working on samples from the Thimbleberries book with all of that great fabric that we have. These are about the easiest and best projects that I have seen in a long time. Really, the first project in the book took less than 1/2 hour and I already have it quilted to boot. You can make a whole bunch of these and be ready to wrap before the kids are back in school. If you are in need of inspiration, I know that everyone working the floor will be able to give you tons of ideas.

Kathy and I are working on getting the shopping page ready. In the meantime, anyone wishing to preorder Elly's book, Baltimore Elegance, you may preorder until the end of July and using the Code 1234, you will receive a $5.00 credit. The price of the book is $29.95 plus s/h for out-of-town orders. As I have mentioned earlier, I saw Elly 's galley copy and it is maybe the best book she has done. Every Baltimore appliquer needs this book. You may email me or call the shop to place your order.

Come in and see us and let us get you started on all those great gifts. Barbara

Sunday, July 09, 2006

Thanks to all who stopped by this week to say Happy Anniversary and to stock up on so many great buys!! We really did have a lot of fun. There is one more day to enjoy all the bargains so if you didn't make it in last week or if there is something you forgot on your list you have Tuesday to get in on all the good stuff at 25% off and then there are still some great buys in the back room. We will be doing door prizes and will have the lemonade and cookies out as well.

Then on Wednesday it will be all the Christmas fabric in great abundance. As I have said before, there is so much stuffed back into the recesses of the store that I have quite forgotten everything that we ordered. We will be getting things organized to focus on the new Thimbleberries line that goes with the Christmas To Go book. This is an outstanding group of projects and the fabrics are wonderful. Stay tuned for more info on this one. Of course, all your Christmas Dollars on good on these purchases until the end of August.

We are getting very close to opening the shopping page complete with PayPal and you can then order from home in your PJs if that is easier. Another great event to stay tuned for. At the same time we will start taking orders for Elly's new book as well as fat quarter bundles of her new fabric line.

Our friend Carol Gruber was in on Saturday and was shopping for fabric for a "car quilt". Now is that not the neatest thing you ever heard of. Yes, she is making a quilt for her car. After all, when it is chilly or down right cold, a little quilt to put over your knees is just the best thing ever. If you need ideas for your car quilt, let me know and I will lend my advice. I can't wait to get started on mine. See you all soon, Barbara

Wednesday, July 05, 2006

After the long weekend and holiday, it was good to get back to work. It was even better because so many of you stopped by to enjoy the first day of the Anniversary Sale. I love it when people come in with their lists. What fun to find everything on the list and then a couple of extras. Yes, it is our Fifth Anniversary Sale, and everything in the store is marked down 25%. Plus, we have some great buys in the back room. Come in while the good stuff lasts. And an extra bonus, we have door prize drawings every hour and a really fun anniversary game to play. Answer 10 questions right and you get two fat quarters. There are cookies and lemonade to keep your spirits up and an extra surprise when you arrive. A new look out front is sure to put a smile on your face.

Oh, and I almost forgot about the Christmas Dollars. For every ten dollars on the register, you receive a Christmas Dollar. Christmas Dollars will be good on Christmas fabric purchases beginning next Wednesday through August 31. We are extending the Anniversary Sale through next Tuesday and then on Wednesday, we will deck the halls and roll out all the great Christmas fabric that has been arriving over the last few months. Sometimes it is hard to remember exactly everything that we have because we have been hoarding it for so long. And, quite frankly, we are beginning to run out of storage space. It will be nice to get it out on the shelves.

Don't let the week pass by without coming in and sharing this special anniversary and picking up a few bargains.

See you soon---Barbara

I am feeling so nostalgic. Can it really be five years since I first opened the doors to Nutmeg Lodge and began welcoming you in? Can it really be five years since this amazing journey began? I have been trying to picture what we looked like five years ago. We really had received only a small portion of the fabric that was ordered. The checkout counter was still under construction. And the old cutting table was the center of attraction. I remember how many of you came that first week to offer encouragement and congratulations. I know that these five years have been a wonderful experience. I feel so blessed to have made friends with so many of you. I feel doubly blessed to have had your support and participation in all aspects of what goes on at Nutmeg Lodge.

To begin the celebration--on Wednesday, the doors will swing open and we will be holding our annual Anniversary Sale. Everything in the store is marked down 25%. This will be a great time to get backs for projects finished or near finishing. Battings, threads, quilting supplies, etc. Needles, pins, cutters, mats and rulers. You name it, it is marked down. Stock up on panels and quick items for fun and easy gifts for Christmas and other events in your life that need a gift. Plus, in the classroom, we will have a variety of special sale items marked down to 50%.

In addition to all of these great bargains, we will be playing games, and drawing for some great door prizes. I really want this to be a big celebration but we can't celebrate without each of you. After all, YOU ARE WHAT MAKES NUTMEG LODGE.

I send each of you a special invitation to stop in this week and help celebrate our big event. And, I also say THANK YOU to each and everyone that has helped make Nutmeg Lodge such a big success.

Rain, rain, and more rain!!!! The next chapter will be weeding and mowing but before that starts, time to get in some quilting. There is still plenty of time to get a new table runner ready for the Fourth of July cookout. We have two great bunting fabrics. If you don't know how to make a bunting banner, we have a free pattern for you. It is really very simple. You can make your home the envy of the neighborhood with patriotic touches inside and out.

Next week is our big Anniversary Sale. In addition to great markdowns throughout the store, we will have super bargains in the backroom. And because this is such a momentous occasion, we will be having fun games and door prizes every day.

We will be closed on Tuesday, July Fourth and the sale starts on Wednesday, July 5 and will run through the following Tuesday, July 11. That way you have plenty of time to enjoy all the bargains.

There are a few days left to get your birthday fat quarters if June is your birthday month. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Barbara
