What a fabulous few days!!!! The Berryville Quilt Show was a great success on many levels.....the quilts were wonderful, a great array of designs and levels of expertise, the crowd was large and the shopping was Outstanding!!!! I brought home several empty crates, which is the best way I know of to determine how good a show was. I had a lovely time visiting with so many people and all-in-all, the entire weekend went very well.
Now I am trying to get all the loose ends tied up neatly and start packing for Market. I leave on Wednesday for the annual Spring ritual of going and seeing and ordering all of the new things. To that end, I will not post the blog until I return from Salt Lake City next Monday. I hope to have lots to share with you and a ton of NEWS to tell you.
When I return we will be getting ready for some big changes and a ton of excitement. I have mentioned before about emailing, calling or dropping by the shop with your mailing address and email address. Once again I am reminding you to do this so that you don't miss out on any new news.
I look forward to sharing all that I see and learn in a week or so. In the meantime, stop by and check all of the great things we have on the shelves and say HELLO!!! Barbara

Haven't you just loved the last few days? My what a difference a few degrees make. I have spent some lovely time in my flower beds, working in the dirt, smelling the new mulch I laid down--but I have also found time to work at my sewing machine as well. Putting the finishing touches on samples for the quilt show this weekend and trying to frantically put together a sample of some new fabric we have. A perfect project for Father's Day. It really isn't too early to think about the man in your life and we have a wonderful opportunity to make a wonderful little project with lodge and fishing all over it. This is a new line from Moda--I didn't get a lot of it because I thought it wouldn't work well with other things on the shelf and it really does. I hope to have this hanging in the booth at Berryville so be sure to stop by and check it out, oh yes and say Hi. Don't forget the show at Berryville--this is a delightful local show and you really will love the variety of vendors and the great quilts that will be hanging--see you there. Barbara

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! How lovely it is to have sunshine, warm temperatures, blue skies, Spring at last!!!! I hope that you are enjoying this wonderful event. Next weekend you will have the opportunity of enjoying the show at Berryville. This is will be the first time they have done the show two years in a row and they are planning to make this an annual event. The show last year was a wonderful event and I am sure that everyone going can be assured of a great quilt show experience. There are complete information on the web site and you can stop by the shop to pick up a brochure.
There are new flat folds on the sale cabinet in the back so if you need extra borders, backings or fabric for a patio project, this is the place to look first. We still have all that Whimsical fabric with the 31 fat quarters pulled into a lovely bundle. I haven't gotten into this bundle yet for a project but can't wait to get started on something fun.
Also, with graduations just around the corner and wedding season starting, don't forget to make a new quilt for the dorm or throw for a new couple's den. Also there are all those tee shirts that need to be made into something memorable. Myself and everyone on staff is full of great ideas for all of these occasions. Ask us if you need help. See you all soon---Barbara

You might not be able to "feel" Spring, but thanks to the new panel we just received, you can experience Spring with just an easy project. Sandy Gervais has designed a wonderful and fanciful project complete with cute little lady bugs and a great array of fabrics to go along with the panel.
It really won't be long until Mother's Day and there is plenty of opportunity to make something special for the "mother" on your list. Also, consider a gift certificate. These great gift ideas are good for fabric, books, patterns, notions, all of our great gifts and classes. Yes, we really do have classes, the Open Classroom is held once a month and is posted on the web page. Also, if you have a group of 3 to 5 people interested in any specific topic, ask me and I can arrange a special class just for your group.
Even though we have a full list, if you are interested in Fall Retreat let us know to put you on the waiting list. So often we have openings due to change in plans as we get closer to the event.
The weather is supposed to be better this weekend--enjoy and stop by, Barbara

It seems I write the same thing every week--Spring, Winter, cold, snow? Oh well, let's be thankful we have something fun to keep us busy while the weather rolls by. I went to Elkins this weekend to attend the meeting of the West Virginia Quilt Association. What a lovely group of women who hosted this event--the Log Cabin Quilters and the membership as a whole is wonderful. Of course, they all seemed to like what Nutmeg Lodge brought to sell and so many of them already knew about the shop and I think that we will be seeing more visitors from across the mountains. The drive was delightful and the whole trip was great!!!
Once again, new things have arrived and I don't want you to miss out on the great new pieces that are gracing the shelves. We have all 31 pieces of Whimsical's new line, Harmony. Absolutely fantastic is the only word to describe this great new collection. All of those Whimsical colors that we have come to love and a great variety of textures. The girls at the shop have knocked themselves out getting this cut into fat quarters and bundles are ready to go as well as yardage.
In the sale department we still have a number of bolts that are priced at 30% off when you finish the bolt---they all have under 2 yards left on the bolt.
We are also gathering names and addresses for a new mailing list. If you would like to be included in this list for future announcements, please email, call or come by to add your name to the list. And since you are getting this mention by way of the "internet", you can also let us know your email address as we are contemplating an email list as well. And to reassure all of you, we do not share these lists with anyone.
In an effort to get all our "nooks and crannies" really clean we will be putting various items on mark-down in the back room. Come in and check out these goodies from time-to-time. Sometimes we find something that needs to go, it goes out for sale and is gone before I can get on the blog to let everyone know.
And, last but not least, the next show coming up is Berryville. There is information on the website and we also have information at the shop about this wonderful show. Take care, stay warm, and keep busy with all your quilting projects. Barbara

It really is Spring, but honestly between the weather and the shoppers, it feels more like January. Oh well, this is really a great opportunity to get even more projects finished and/or underway. So many of you have been in this week to see all the new additions to the fabric shelves. And the shop looks so fabulous that I really want all of you to stop by and enjoy the wonderful vistas that meet your eye from entering the door to going all the way to the back.
We have several surprises for you--first we have a number of new items in the gift department. Some of the most scrumptious pin cushions you ever did see, wonderful journals and thread boxes with drawer that really will add a sophisticated elegance to organization.
Then, the the back room we have a whole line of "skinny" bolts that are priced 30% off when you finish the bolt. These bolts all have 2 yards or less, so they really need to go home with you.
We have a new line from Moda that escapes my mind right now but, as usual, it is lovely.
Come in, say hello, see the new "stuff" and enjoy shopping at Nutmeg Lodge. See you, Barbara

Happy Easter!!! and burrrrrrrrr!! Someone said the other day, how strange we had Easter weather at Christmas and now we have Christmas weather for Easter. Oh well, global warming I guess. With such crazy weather I have been extra busy with piecing a few new tops and getting several things quilted as well as a couple of applique projects. Oh, and I celebrated Easter with my family.
I know that so many of you enjoyed our Spring Fling last week. It really was a great opportunity to get borders and backings for all your projects. Several of you also pulled together fabric for new projects. Don't forget to bring in your receipts from last week and we will give you a coupon for 10% of the totals. This coupon will be good for any and all items rung on the Notions Key. The coupon will be good for a one-time shopping experience through May 31. Just as a reminder, we ring all notions, books, patterns and batting on the Notions Key.
When you come in this week you will be delighted to see a lot of new fabric. Chelsea Boutique from Blackbird Designs/Moda is a wonderful collection and I have made a sweet little table topper/wall hanging that looks so vintage. A new panel for your little boy will delight ages from newborn to elementary age. Add a wooden train or Thomas Tank Engine and the fun just won't stop. And a collection from Benartex that will stop hearts left and right. 20 of the most beautiful blues and yellows, you won't know where to start and then another 16 pieces of green and fuchsia. This whole collection is called Kimiko's Chinoiserie. An unbelievable group of colors and designs. I have the green/fuchsia ready for your approval and am still working on the blue and yellow. I can't tell you when we have had anything so exciting.
Also, in the gift department, we have a wonderful group of candles, and scented soaps in the most delightful boxes. These are perfect gifts for everyone on your gift list. We are also expecting a shipment of new gift items this week--come in and check them out.
Stay warm and stop by and see all of our new arrivals. Barbara

Spring Fling is going full swing. If you haven't made it in, don't forget to put it on your list of things "to do". So many of the bargains in the back are gone, so much so that we searched through and found a few more items that we really needed to get rid of. And so many of you have stocked up on borders and backings. This is an excellent opportunity to get those finishing touches for works in progress and, if you have things in the works, then it really is the perfect time to get what you need to get started.
One of our good friends was in today and bought fabric to make new cushion covers for her dining room chairs--what a perfect opportunity to get started on sprucing up for Spring!!!!
I have a machine quilting class scheduled for Wednesday, April 25 from 1:00 to 3:00. Price is $20.00 and that includes the project you will be learning on. If you are interested in this "much have" class, call the shop or email me with your intentions. All you need to bring is your sewing machine in good working order, walking foot and darning foot.
Have a happy and "warm" Easter. I will give you updates for things coming up soon on Sunday night. Barbara
