NOTES FROM THE LODGE Sunday, August 24, 2008

Can you believe it's the last week of August? Where did the Summer go? Actually I'm not too disappointed--I think I said it just the other week that Sept. starts my favorite time of the year. The weather this week has certainly put me in mind of Autumn delights. Cool, crisp mornings, sunny afternoons and chilly nights--the best formula for quilt making!!!

I have begun work on the Fall Class Schedule--stay tuned for this addition to the web site. I know Wendye is working on some more fun---if you were not in her string piecing class, be sure and get in her next offerings---the collective said that she is an awesome teacher.

A couple of notes:

We have been asked to sell tickets for the Apple Harvest Quilt. We will have it on display for several weeks. Come in and buy your ticket to support a local event that is very worthy. I am hoping that next year Nutmeg Lodge will be an integral part of the quilt for this annual event.

We are assisting the Martinsburg Women's Club with their effort to provide Christmas
stockings to the Salvation Army. Next week I will post a schedule for a "sew in" to make about 50 stockings. We will have a table set up with machines and pattern/prepared fabric---anyone wishing to help with this can come in, sit down, sew a stocking (or two, etc.) and get a reward for doing so. This is a service that the Women's Club has provided for the Salvation Army for some time and I am proud that Nutmeg Lodge will be involved this year.

Don't forget to call me or come in to pick up a ticket for the Annual Labor Day Breakfast at War Memorial Park. I hope to see a lot of you there.

Get your little and big ones off to school and then stop by to get started on all those fun projects you have been dreaming of all summer.

See you soon!!! Barbara
