NOTES FROM THE LODGE Sunday, August3, 2008
Welcome August---just one more month and we will be in that glorious time of year September followed by Fall---my most favorite time of the year. Next week I am off to the beach for a much needed break. One week with my family for rest, relaxation and fun. That sounds like the past week, without the rest and relaxation. My friends Robyn Pandolph and Brenda Hayes spent the week with me. The focus was Robyn's new fabric from RJR. Robyn and Brenda were working on samples for the upcoming Fall Quilt Market where the fabric will be introduced and on samples for the February issue of American Patchwork and Quilting. If you came by the shop on Wednesday you saw the fabric and know what a treat we are in for. This is probably the most beautiful line of fabric I have ever seen---for all who remember Folk Art Wedding you are going to totally flip out for this one---honestly this is so beautiful, so much more sophisticated and just down right gorgeous!!!
We have tons of batting in---we not only have the Poly Select and Cotton Blend that everyone loves, we are also caring the new "green" batting---each batt tells you how many liter bottles were used to make the batting. It is really a wonderful batting, helping to rid the world of plastic bottles and it is cheaper too!!! What's not to like?
We also have more apron patterns if you have been looking for one--this is the Four Square pattern from Vanilla House--fast, fun, and just fabulous. The new Needl'e Love book is in, and Renee has hit another home run.
We have a number of community projects that we are running currently and will have more in the future. It is really a good thing for us to get involved in other things in our community. Don't forget that Nutmeg Lodge is a collection point for old cell phones for the Women's Center, we are also the collection point for eye glasses in good condition for a project in Mexico that brings glasses to people who have no other access to refractive and optical care. And I am also selling tickets for the Labor Day Breakfast at War Memorial Park. A great event with a truly American flare---steak, eggs, and country ham. All proceeds from this even goes to improvement of this wonderful park. Tickets are $25.00. A great deal!!! Call the shop, email me or stop by to get your ticket or to get more information.
See you soon---Barbara
