NOTES FROM THE LODGE Monday, September 1, 2008

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day. Tomorrow begins my favorite time of the year. I can remember when I was a young girl, school always started on the Tuesday after Laber Day. New shoes, new notebook, new classroom---I loved to walk to school with my friends, and then in a few weeks after school started, the leaves began to turn the colors of Autumn, then when they fell on the sidewalk, the crunching under our feet. The smell is something that I remember as well---just as all of the leaves were ready to blow away, the smell of fires in the fireplace would mingle with the smell of the burning leaving in backyards. Obviously I am old, kids no longer "walk to school" and no one ever burns leaves in their backyards any more.

With that happy memory, I am alerting you that beginning tomorrow, we will be doing our annual Buy One, Get One Free book event from Martingale. This is a wonderful opportunity to get a great buy on the books you looked at last year but never got around to purchasing. Remember that Martingale has that Bonus Book program and you can get your card stamped with you purchase the BOGO books.

I am off to the beach for a few days beginning Wed. One last fling for the summer. That means that our cute little mice will be playing on Fri. and Sat.

When I get back, I get to immediately pack up the car and get ready to head out bright and early on Sunday for Sully. Don't forget to put this on your calendar. That wonderful one-day event at Sully Plantation in Chantilly. A lot of wonderful vendors and I will have special offerings that you won't want to miss.

See you soon---Barbara
