Notes from the Lodge Monday, March 31, 2008

Sorry that I didn't get this posted yesterday. I was so busy this weekend working on some samples for the upcoming shows that I didn't stop to sit down at the computer. I can't wait for everyone to stop by the Hagerstown and Berryville shows----you really are in for some treats. We have also had some new arrivals that will be ready for consumption at those shows as well. We are feeling the effects of Spring and enjoying the prospect of new and delightful projects to get you excited.

Speaking of Spring and excitement---this coming Saturday will be full of new beginnings, excitement and all kinds of Spring delights. Nutmeg Lodge, Laber's Office Furniture and Every Day Odds and Ends will be holding a sidewalk sale to welcome our new neighbor the Bicycle Shop. I'm sorry I can't remember their official name but Saturday will be their first day open and we plan to welcome them and you with all kinds of great bargains, one-of-a-kind items. I know that Laber's has some very special things that Nutmeg Lodge customers are going to love. And, of course, Nutmeg Lodge will have things that will delight you as well. This event will also kick off our usual Spring Fling Sale. Everything in the store will be 25% off. So the sidewalk sale will have items and prices that are a once-in-a-lifetime event plus all the great bargains inside. Don't miss this great day. Also, the Spring Fling will be held all through the next week and will end on the Second Saturday for the Saturday Sampler folks.

Have a great week, we look forward to seeing you---Barbara

NOTES FROM THE LODGE Monday, March 24, 2008

HAPPY EASTER MONDAY!!!! I did not post the blog on Sunday as usual because I spent the day with my family---we had a birthday party for my son on Saturday, off to church on Sunday morning and then a wonderful day at my sister's for dinner, and all the Easter things. Today I'm back on my food plan and off to the gym to get those pounds off. Celebrating with family and friends is fun, necessary and not a time to deny yourself with all the things the season or celebration has to offer.

Lot's of fun things at Nutmeg Lodge for you to think about. Two great shows to visit in April ---Hagerstown and Berryville. Stop by the shop and pickup a flier for the Hagerstown show that will give you $1.00 off your admission to the show. That show is Sat. and Sun., April 19 and 20 at the Community College in Hagerstown. Then Fri, Sat. and Sun., April 25, 26 and 27 come to the rec center in Berryville for that show. Each of these groups has wonderful quilts to be viewed, some great vendors and a lot of fun demo's, raffle quilts, and food. Each are located near play grounds so that there is something for children to do as well. Also, don't forget to stop at the Nutmeg Lodge booth---I always have things that you have not seen at the shop and sometimes are not available at the shop and special pricing on all items as well.

Personally I am planning a Pampered Chef party. If you would like to come to my home and attend, or place an order---stop by the shop this week and get details (time, place, directions, etc.) All are invited!!!!

Soon to be a part of our new space is a bicycle shop---to celebrate that new business joining us, Laber's Office Furniture, Nutmeg Lodge and Everyday Odds and Ends will be hosting a sidewalk sale on Saturday, April 5 from 10:00 to 3:00. There will be extraordinary bargains to be had at that unique event.

Many things in the works---come in and get all the latest news, fabrics, patterns, etc. We all look forward to your visit. Barbara

Still new on the shelves is the new Aunt Grace line, Elly's new line, the Giggles charm pack and flannels for baby quilts, and a couple of other Moda lines that are new and escape my brain right now.

NOTES FROM THE LODGE Sunday, March 9, 2008

BRRRRR!!!!! Can you believe this weather? Rain, Wind but at least no snow. For everyone who missed our machine quilting class, I will be rescheduling just as soon as this weather thing seems to have stabilized. I really did enjoy that extra hour of day light today. It was a nice relief to long, cold nights. Now we only have the cold to get through and then we will all be enjoying the outdoors, our gardens and getting the patios and decks spruced up.

I'm off this week to Manassas to the Cabin Branch/Stonehouse Quilt Show. Don't forget to put that on your "to do" list if you are in the area. It is a very nice show and the ladies who run it are absolutely fabulous.

You really won't believe what arrived this week!!!!! 30's FABRIC!!!! Yes that is right, Nutmeg Lodge is carrying those lovely little Aunt Grace prints. We have 31 in a stack of fat eights or you can get yardage if you like.

I'm still working on the new class schedule so stay tuned for more.

See you soon----Barbara

NOTES FROM THE LODGE March 2, 2008

Happy March!!!! Coming in like a lion, March gives us hope that Spring is just around the corner. With the nights still chilly if not down-right cold, it is still a good thing to be under a quilt working away--whether piecing, appliqueing, quilting or putting on the binding all aspects of what we do is gratifying. I have been so caught up in the process of being able to once again sit with a needle that my project for Ladies of the Sea has become an obsession. I hope that each of you is finding a passion that is giving your heart something to sing about.

I will begin preparing this week for the first show of the season. Weekend after next will be the show in Manassas. Don't forget to check out this great little gem. Last year was my first year vending at this show and it was a delightful experience.

We have new samples on the wall for classes coming up--don't forget to come in and check them out. I will be working on a new schedule for the upcoming quarter--April, May and June. Also, checkout the Quilt Odyssey site, my friend Robyn's classes/lecture are listed. This might be something to add to your visit to that great show.

We have several new arrivals on the shelves, come in and see them, say hello and stay for a visit---we love seeing you!!! Barbara
