MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! I can't express how grateful I am for all your business and support all year. It means a lot to me and the staff for your continued love of fabric and quilting. We have been working hard on the Saturday Sampler program for 2009 as well as a new quick, easy, and inexpensive program we will be unveiling next week. In addition we have the new clubs outlined at the shop and I will have the class schedule ready before the first. So much to look forward to and so many wonderful projects for you to join in on. 2009 will be a truly wonderful year full of new and delightful quilt projects for everyone.

NOTES FROM THE LODGE Sunday, December 21, 2008
HO, HO, HO!!!! It is almost time for the big day--I hope that you are ready--all the present wrapped, all the cookies baked, and all the decorations in their place. I wish I could say that I have met all those deadlines---alas, my decorations are in place, my cookies are baked but sadly I have bought no presents. I will take care of that tomorrow. I have been very beleaguered worrying about making a difference. My church gifted me with some money to enable me to make a difference. Just like on Oprah, I have been challenged to make the money grow and find a place to make a difference. Believe me that is not easy. Today I learned of a need that has really touched my heart and I have been working with others to reach and and help someone in trouble. I urge each of you to find a place where you might make a difference. It is a really good thing.
Yesterday Cathy and I boarded a bus at 5:00 a.m. and went to New York City for the day. It was a wonderful day!!!! We totally enjoyed Fifth Avenue, "shopping" in Tiffany's, Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Ave., etc., etc. Took in the show at Radio City Music Hall and saw Santa in Central Park. It had snowed on Friday and the Park was magical in the snow, as was the snow on the tree at Rockefeller Center. Dinner at Trump Tower really topped off the day. Home by midnight--it was a perfect precursor to Christmas. We had such a great time that I think that Nutmeg Lodge should sponsor trips to New York next year. Stay tuned for more news on this.
This week we unveiled the Club projects for 2009. Come in and check them out, sign up and get in on all the fun. With the decline in our economy, a Club membership is really a great value. In all our clubs you get patterns, door prizes, special discounts and punches on club day. Don't miss out on these great programs.
I wish to each of you a Blessed Christmas!!!! May the peace of the season be felt in each of your hearts. Barbara

NOTES FROM THE LODGE Sunday, December 14, 2008
The time just ticks away and soon the blessed day will be here. Are you ready? I can tell you that I am not. I have finally finished decorating and now I am trying to get the house straight again---it seems that the decorating has been interspersed with sickness and, therefore, the house has been in a real flux. Oh well, there is also baking, shopping, wrapping, etc., etc. left to be done. The one thing I am sure of, Christmas Day will arrive and, somehow, it will all get done.
I am finally over the upper repository problem that layed me low last week. I did manage to attend a couple of really wonderful events this week. A delightful party for Hospice which is looking to grow in a very significant way in the coming years and the production at the Apollo of A Christmas Carol. What a fantastic evening. If you get a chance you should try and catch this outstanding rendition of the Dicken's classic.
I have two Christmas presents waiting to be picked up for a very lucky quilter/sewer. I have two 6600Ps complete with sewing table for the unheard price of $1,600.00. This is a $2,000.00 buy with a savings of $400.00. If you have a desire for a new machine, this is the absolute best machine on the market and the table that is coming with your new wonder is fabulous. Stop by and see it or send your Santa in to pick it up for you. Remember there are only two at this price.
This Thursday is Club Party Day. We will start the festivities at 11:00 a.m. with refreshments and silent auction bidding that you will use your Club Bucks on. Come in and have a blast. Then at 5:00 we will have the evening party. Come early, come late or come both times. See you then.
And on Thursday we will be unveiling our new club projects for next year and taking signups for 2009 Clubs.
See you soon----Barbara

NOTES FROM THE LODGE Sunday, December 7, 2008
For everyone that missed the Friday night Santa's Workshop you really missed a fun evening. There were about 18 of us---the sewing machines were whirring, rotary cutters were spinning, fabric was flying, laughter was everywhere and the food was great. We had a wide variety of snacks plus we ordered pizza. Four crates of food was gathered for Loaves and Fishes food bank--thank you so much!!! The first time we did this program everyone agreed that it was a total success!!!! We will do it again next year, you can count on that.
Marcy took pictures and they should be up soon--stay tuned for them. Also, thanks Marcy for the great pictures from Black Friday.
I am working on the class schedule and will have that ready before the Club Christmas parties on December 18 as well as all the info for clubs next year. Just a reminder---we have a morning party at 11:00 and an evening one at 5:00. Your Club Bucks will buy you great prizes. Don't miss the fun!!!!
At the Santa's Workshop we demonstrated a fabulous casserole carrier. Come in and get your demo and pick up a free pattern. This was a really fun project and I think that everyone here that night went home with the needed fabric, etc. to make at least one of these great projects.
That is just one of the quick ideas that we have for quick and easy gifts---there is still plenty of time to get these little projects done for fabulous one-of-a-kind gifts for this Holiday Season. Plus we have more calendars arriving this week--come in and pick up several for stocking stuffers.
