NOTES FROM THE LODGE Sunday, June 14, 2009
NUTMEG LODGE IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED. Those seem like sad words but I really want to assure everyone that it really is going to be okay. Ten years ago when I moved to Martinsburg there was no place to buy fabric in this part of West Virginia. I am proud of the service and goods that I have been able to provide in the past eight years. I know that many of your are sad and disappointed that the shop has closed. It was a hard decision for me to make and I pondered on it for many months--at the end of the day I was so tired of running it by myself and keeping up with all the paper work, bills, reports, etc., etc. Nelson was so helpful to me with all the paper part of the business and I have struggled with that part of it ever since he has been gone. Again, I am proud of what I did and feel sure that at some point in time another shop will pop up and take my place.
In the meantime, I do have the space for two more weeks and have a lot of cleaning up and moving out. There are a great many things that will have to come home with me. I am still running the Willing Hands Club and will need a lot to keep that club running. Judy will be running Thimbleberries. If you belong to that club and have questions, you can call Judy direct or email me and I will pass it along to her.
If you have questions and/or need help with something you can email me. I had passed out my cards on Saturday with my cellphone number on it. Email me and I can send that number along to you. I really want to be as helpful to everyone as I can and make this transition as easy as possible.
On Tuesday a group will gather at the Purple Iris--it will give me an opportunity to make closure. I'm not sure exactly what to expect that day but I know I will probably be overwhelmed.
This blog will continue for a time--to the end of the month and a little beyond until we get things combined with Robyn's site.
Once more I will commend a valiant and wonderful group of women that have been by my side through all of this--Judy, Marcy, Pattie, Cathy, Kelly and Debi--the biggest THANK YOU possible. For the past two months they have cut, moved, repriced, reorganized, remerchandised and given their all for the good of the effort. I will forever be grateful and amazed at how wonderfully they accomplished every task set out and then some!!!!!
